From Table to Touchdown

Whether you’re a fan or not, the Super Bowl is an event that can be embraced by all. If the game or commercials don’t already draw you in, we’re betting you’d at least do the wave for the right spread of food.

Game Day Chili

With just 6 ingredients on your team, this chili is guaranteed to earn playing time.SB_chili

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 package of Chili Seasoning Mix
  • 1 can of baked beans, drained
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 can of tomato sauce

1st down: Cook ground beef and onion in large skillet on medium-high heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain fat.
2nd down: Stir in Seasoning Mix and remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3rd down: Serve with shredded cheese, sour cream and chopped onion, if desired.

Touchdown-worthy tip: To make your game day a little less fatty without your players knowing, use lean ground beef or turkey, or even substitute baked beans for kidney beans.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

It’s all the delicious taste of buffalo wings without the leftover bones and mess.

  • 1 package of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup of buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup bleu cheese or ranch dressing
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1/2 cup crumbled bleu cheese or your favorite shredded cheese

1st down: Preheat oven to 350°F.
2nd down: Combine all ingredients in a 1-quart baking dish.
3rd down: Bake 20 min. or until mixture is heated through; stir.

Fan Favorite Food: You will not be penalized for serving this dip with celery sticks. As a healthier option, you can substitute in fat free cream cheese and ranch.

Touchdown Tacos

An all-American favorite. Choosing “hot” seasoning will give this dish a spicy kickoff. SB_tacos

  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • 1 package of hot taco seasoning
  • 1 package of shredded lettuce
  • 1 package of hard or soft tortilla shells
  • 1 bag of shredded cheese
  • 1 can of olives
  • 1 jar of salsa
  • 1 can of sour cream

1st down: Cook ground beef in large skillet on medium-high heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain fat.
2nd down: Stir in Seasoning Mix and remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3rd down: Warm tortilla shells in microwave for 30 seconds. Add toppings as desired.

2 Point Conversion: Serving a large crowd? You will likely score 2 points for this mini taco conversion. Line a mini muffin tin with pieces of soft tortilla shell and top with beef, seasoning and cheese. Bake at 350 degrees until cheese melts. This nifty little dish will save you dirty dishes, and messy tacos now become a simple finger food.

Pizza Pinwheels

Prepare something delicious that’ll keep your fans fueled for the whole game.

  • 1 8oz can of crescent roll dough
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 package of pepperoni
  • 1 14oz can of pizza sauce

1st down: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. On a baking sheet, combine the 8 crescent roll triangles into four rectangles.
2nd down: Layer each with your desired amount of cheese and pepperoni. Roll tight lengthwise.
3rd down: Cut each into 4 additional pieces. Bake in oven for about 12 minutes or till golden brown. Service with pizza sauce for dipping.

No Flag on This Play: It’s okay to take a timeout to give your team a healthy boost of energy. For a healthy alternative, use fat free dough, fat free cheese, and turkey pepperoni, which has 70% less fat.

End Zone Wraps

  • 12 (10 inch) flour tortillas
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 head of lettuce
  • 1 (6 ounce) package sliced deli-style turkey
  • 2 cups shredded carrots
  • 2 cups minced tomato

1st down: Spread cream cheese evenly on tortillas. Top with lettuce leaves.
2nd down: Arrange the turkey in even layers on top of the lettuce. Add carrots and tomatoes over the turkey.
3rd down: Roll into wrap. Cut diagonally into desired size. Secure with toothpick.

Quarterback Sneak:Score with a trick play no one will notice! Use whole wheat tortillas instead of flour, fat free cream cheese, romaine lettuce instead of iceberg lettuce, and unsalted minced tomatoes.

Hail Mary

As the halftime show begins, everyone will want to huddle around the kitchen for this Super Bowl worthy drink.Bloody Mary Coctail with celery stalk and pitcher.

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 3 ounces tomato juice
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 drops Tabasco sauce
  • pepper
  • salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon prepared horseradish (optional)

1st down: Add ice to glass
2nd down: Mix vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, salt, pepper, celery salt and horseradish and pour in glass.
3rd down: garnish with lemon, lime wedge, celery stalk or green olives.
