Oman Chamber of Commerce launch international partnership

Oman Connect offers businesses support in local, world markets

DES MOINES, Iowa (April 22, 2016)  The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and gooidev, American software development and marketing company, announced the launch of a new partnership to increase the international presence of Oman’s businesses and markets.

Their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) says OCCI has selected the Oman Connect platform for its Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) incubation platform. An initial 5,000 businesses are to be loaded onto the platform during 2016.

In total, the OCCI involves about 125,000 businesses in Oman, and the target after the initial phase is to make the platform available to them all.

The MOU says Oman Connect will be within gooidev’s M Connect, a merged social media platform and business incubator, to accelerate startups and support existing SMEs and new companies wishing to join the Oman marketplace. It has a strong international footing and companies will be supported with international marketing and P.R. resources.

Paul N. Greenwood, gooidev CEO and chairman, said, “Oman Connect will be a launch platform for businesses wishing to reach outside their own domestic markets. We can really put the SME’s on the world map and will be designing international marketing strategies for the Oman Chamber members. You can see new customers in the US and Europe having exposure to Omani based companies and products.

“This is a very exciting opportunity to showcase the country. We are aiming to tell this story on Wall Street: Oman is open for business.”

Chamber Board member Ahmed Abdul Kareem Al Hooti, who chairs OCCI’s committees on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and international relations, added, “Oman Connect compliments many of our existing initiatives. Their international perspective is a real opportunity for Chamber members to get a bite of the bigger global marketplace.” He added that the Chamber is expecting the companies to see exponential growth.

When mature, the program will have three levels of participation – Silver, Gold and Elite – each with great benefits, Hooti noted. All levels will include listings on the platform and in appropriate international marketing and public relations campaigns

Ibri College invites Jay Namboor to lead session for business technology students

IBRI, Sultanate of Oman (Dec. 3, 2015) Ibri College of Technology invited Jay Namboor, chief product officer of USA-based gooidev, to conduct a business analysis workshop and training session for its business technology students, said Junath Naseer Ahamed, coordinator of the Industry Link Committee in the College’s Department of Information Technology.

Junath said the program, “Business Analyst Resource Development,” focused on what a business analyst is and how to become one.

Namboor said business analysts gather, document and communicate a business’ requirements in clear, detailed user stories. gooidev’s IT business analysts work with its application development teams and business units to ensure IT solutions are developed and implemented to satisfy those requirements for clients.

Namboor noted “the college is excellent, the students are very interested, and the session was a learning experience for me as well.

“Junath and his colleagues — Prabu Arockiyaraj Ratnasabapathi, the head of the IT section, and Ibrahim Nasser Al Siyabi, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs – enthusiastically encouraged us to share our opportunities with their students.”

Namboor is on extended assignment in the region in response to a significant uptick in gooidev’s business opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa. He is providing client support as well as recruiting and training local talent for the app and web development company’s international team of specialists. “Ibri’s students fit with our requirements for new hires and interns in MENA,” he said.

Namboor built his foundation as a business analyst solving complex technology issues for Fortune 500 companies in manufacturing, financial services and digital media. He is based in gooidev’s headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa, USA.

Ibri ( is one of seven colleges of technology operated under Oman’s Ministry of Manpower and directed by the Directorate General of Technological Education.
